Music on the Rocks was created to showcase two things I love to do: make music and drink whiskey. In this episode, I momentarily pause my journey into Songs by People Who Are My Friends (and also by those I wish were my friends) with Dust to Dust, a song I wrote about my first best friend, in honor of my mother-in-law’s birthday. A very happy birthday, Vicki! I toast with much of what is left from the bottle of 2003 Evan Williams Single Barrel Vintage Bourbon. We’ll be back to other people’s music next week, but I know that Vicki likes this song of mine, so it felt appropriate to switch it up a bit. Plus, it’s my show, and I make the rules.
The idea behind this series was to be able to perform in a time when public performances are not possible or responsible. Last year, I lost virtually all of 2020’s live performances, and those losses carry on well into 2021. It’s the first time that I can remember that I have absolutely no upcoming shows at all, which is uncomfortable and scary. I lost a lot of potential sales, and those losses from missed shows continue on indefinitely, so if you are able, my albums are available for purchase digitally, on CD, and on vinyl at

This is literally the best way to support musicians like myself who have been unable to tour and perform for the past year, and we love you for it.
Additionally, if you’ve been enjoying this series, and you’re in a position to do so, you can tip or donate as you see fit to help replace my lost performing income at
