Detroit Basketball is bigger than what happens on the court or in the arena. This is who we are. It’s our rallying cry. It’s a unification of all basketball being played in the city. And here, right here, is where we share a love for our team and our city.
Here, in Detroit…with DEEE-TROIT basketball!
On June 20, the Detroit Pistons are partnering with Detroit-based creative agency Doner to activate the pride of the city with an integrated campaign designed to build passion and excitement around Detroit’s home team and the upcoming season, starting with the NBA draft.
The Piston’s new campaign draws on the spirit of renewal and resurgence being felt throughout “The DEEE,” making fan’s rallying cry a symbol of Detroit pride, and the center of a campaign to unite and attract sports fans across the city around the team’s renewal.
“It starts with the people of our city,” said Charlie Metzger, Executive Vice President
Chief Revenue & Marketing Officer Detroit Pistons. “We want Pistons pride to be a badge of identity for all of Detroit, and our rallying cry DEEE-TROIT to be felt across the city. ”
The new creative campaign will run across TV, digital, social and out-of-home, to reframe the city often depicted for its resilience and grit through seamless vignettes that capture Detroit as the diverse, modern and progressive city it is today. The campaign’s music track and voiceover feature local rapper and influencer Brenton “B Free” Freeman, who has captivated the Detroit urban rap scene with his versatile flows, unique style, and exhilarating stage presence. The spot also highlights the Pistons’ partnership with Detroit native, Tommey Walker’s, Detroit Vs Everybody appeal brand.
