It’s often been said, “As the leadership goes, so goes the church!” In our passage for today (1 Timothy 5:17-25), we see that a sound church is called to care for, correct and carefully select its leaders. Knowing this, the church should diligently pray to God for its leadership. It should pray for its elders to rule well and work hard in preaching and teaching God’s Word (vs. 17); it should pray for its elders to be above reproach and committed to holiness; it should pray for the Lord to provide future leaders that would do these first two things well. Church, pray for your pastors.
